With 5 computers and more extra hard drives than I can find anymore, THIS is a nice surprise. It has the room for ALL my “crap”. It’s simple, nothing to really figure out, darn…..There just isn’t anything more I can add that matters. Not for me, a casual user anyway. And with the encryption, maybe the wife won’t find all “those” pictures? (KIDDING!)
The Western Digital (My book essential) 1 TB external drive is a great back up tool for anyone with a home network and for many other uses requiring mass storage. Hook up is trivial, the software is adequate requiring some experience and close inspection of the documentation. Even a novice user can make good with this external drive.
The description state: “Usually ships within 1 to 2 months”
Why on earth would it take 1-2 months to ship this product? Who would wait that long?
I was all set to check out when I saw this. I can’t wait that long. I need a new drive now. I guess I’ll be running out to BestBuy to pick one up tomorrow. Even though their price is almost $50 higher, at least I’ll have the darn drive!
What an idiot. I’m now stuck with this really truly dreadful software, which is utter bloatware, wont recognise drives and uses [...] framework. You have really let me down WD, your drives were amazing before and now you have added a pig of piece software to what could have been an excellent drive which apparently I cannot remove? Really gutted. It hogs four running processes in the background which consume the best part of 200Mb. A ruined product.
